GPi and level shifter in 2U 19" rack mount chassis tested OK
Now I have mounted the GPi thing in a 2U 19" rack mount chassis. I also test gz_load and gz_test OK, making sure that JTAG / Clk0 / SPI are all working properly.
Now there is the old problem that GPi is sort of hardwired to SPI chip enable CE0, meaning that GPi's one and only one SPI chip select pin is connected to RPi's SPI CS0. It is easy to reconnect GPi's chip enable pin to RPi's CE1, but either way GPi exclusively occupies RPi's 1 of 2 chip select pin.
So I am going back to the old solution of using MicroChip's MCP23S17 to demultiplex the chip enable line CE1, then I can have as many as I wish CE1 slave SPI devices including GPi.
